Leggere uno spettacolo multimediale

by Monteverdi Anna Maria
Leggere uno spettacolo multimediale

Interpreting a technological performance (prose, dance, opera) involves situating it in the right temporal framework, in the context of use for which it was conceived, and understanding the potentialities, themes and theatrical reasons for using a specific technology. In this book, theatrical creations are read through the theories of Lev Manovich, Jay David Bolter, Richard Grusin and Henry Jenkins on ‘convergent culture’, ‘software culture’ and the trend towards ‘remediation’, i.e. the reuse of old technologies. After a brief overview of video theatre in the 80s and digital theatre in the 90s, the book focuses on the period from the first interactive choreographies using motion capture to the latest experiments with artificial intelligence systems. The book is also enriched with interviews with Italian specialists illustrating the new digital formats and reference technologies, as well as a section of fact sheets on the most important techno-theatrical works.
