The term Middle Ages comes from the Latin Medium aevum and indicates that long historical period included between Antiquity and Modernity (5th-15th century). According to the most widespread historiographical use, the Middle Ages are divided into two subperiods: Early Middle Ages (5th-10th century) and Late Middle Ages (11th-15th century). Indelli, Tommaso

Tommaso Indelli (Salerno, 1977). Research fellow, Adjunct Professor of Medieval History at University of Salerno, he obtained in Pavia Phd in Roman Law and European Legal Culture, specializing in legal culture of Late Antiquity and Medieval Europe. He deals with research and problems relating to structures and organization of public power in Lombard and Norman Southern Italy and has published various monographs on these topics.
