L’inferno degli eletti is Cristina Brondoni’s third thriller in the series dedicated to inspector Enea Cristofori. Milan. Inspector Enea Cristofori has been temporarily suspended from the police force. The situation has only worsened his already strained emotional equilibrium, and the psychotherapy he is forced to undergo in order to resume work is not improving his mood. Tired of a rebellious patient, the psychologist with whom he has had dozens of sessions signs the certificate for reinstatement. Returning to the police station after months, Enea meets his colleague and friend Gabrio Corso and Sara Sisti, police commissioner and his unconfessed love. Against the background of a city in which domestic violence and attempted murders continue to increase, the corpse of a woman is found in the Darsena.Unexpectedly, Enea finds himself working hand in hand with the very psychologist who has been treating him and with whom he has never had a good relationship. One evening, the woman calls him in alarm because she cannot find Sonya, his sister. Enea realises that the girl may have disappeared. And not voluntarily. Shortly afterwards, the policemen make a chilling discovery: Sonya has ended up in a sect. Aeneas decides to use his personal problems to infiltrate the group, convinced that an inside investigation can help them track down Sonya and many other people who seem to have vanished into thin air. The sect welcomes him with open arms.
