MAECI 2020

The Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation helps the dissemination of Italian publications and cinematographic works abroad by offering financial incentives for translations and dubbing/subtitling as a strategic tool for the promotion of the Italian language and culture abroad.

The Ministry offers two types of financial incentives:
Grants for translations of Italian works that have not yet been published or the production, dubbing or subtitling of short-length and feature films and television series;
Awards for Italian works that have already been translated.

Applications are submitted, on a yearly basis, to the relevant Italian Cultural Institute or Italian Embassy/Consulate, as specified in the Call for Applications.

The Consultative Working Group for the promotion of the Italian language and culture – publishing and audiovisual section – held a series of remote meetings 7-30 September to examine and discuss the applications for the grants and awards for the dissemination of Italian books abroad with the translation of literary and scientific works, and the production, dubbing and subtitling of short-length and feature films and television series intended for the mass media for the 2020 financial year.
