Occhi selvaggi

by Baldoni, Sandro
Occhi selvaggi

A charming coming-of-age novel that follows the turbulent Italian history of the 1960s, and the ever more violent contrast between the fast city life and the rural villages still surviving in the countryside.
1960s, Umbria. Marco Primavera, six years old, moves with his family from a city to a lonely village perched on top of the mountains. The change of scene, the distinct mindset of the other inhabitants of the village, and the overwhelming power of nature over their lives are traumatic, aggravated by the sudden death of his mother and the economic difficulties of his father.
Over the years, however, hearing the echoes of a world that is radically transforming through industrialization and politics, Marco and his brothers learn to appreciate the rules of wild living, brutal and strengthening, preparing them to adulthood.
