This is the story of Marco De Sanctis, a brilliant and definitely non-conformist narrator. Marco is an intelligent and ambitious young man, with an apparently useless humanist education, who tries to navigate the world of politics and media in Rome – a city that seems to be the outpost of an old, earlier age – and who, after finding and losing love, ends up building a career in the tech-world, in one of the few areas that offer great opportunities for millennials: the trade of personal data.

When he starts up his own tech-firm, BEFORE, a Big Data company rapidly attracting international investors thanks to a mysterious, revolutionary and invaluable biometric device, Marco doesn’t fully realize where this path will take him and at what cost the success will come… in a meritocratic but ruthless world, made of easy money, amoral and greedy mentors, online and real tribes, magical thinking and very real violence.

\’A thrill of revolt that we all have against ourselves and the gigantic lie we have become\’ – Il Foglio

\’Five hundred pages of prophetic epic deflagrations.\’ – Tuttolibri, La Stampa
