Rifondare la Chiesa. Una follia inevitabile

The captivating prophecy of the “heretical” friar (1925 – 2015) who foresaw the Church of Pope Francis: ‘The ‘refoundation’ more than the ‘reformation’ of the church currently seems like not only a dream but a folly, yet it will be the most sensational event history has in store for future generations.’ Amid contradictions and inconsistencies, the church renews itself. It is the ‘prophetic’ Church whose pillars are: the primacy of unarmed proclamation, engagement in history, identification with the cause of the poor, the provisional nature of theologies, the subordination of rites and worship to real acts of good, the supremacy of humanity over structures, and the supremacy of consciences over the system. The ‘prophetic’ Church is not so much a teacher of truths and doctrines but one attentive to indicating God’s will to people: His design amid the troubled changes of history.
