Sedici mesi

by Andina, Fabio
Sedici mesi

Second World War. On 5 March 1944, Giuseppe Vaglio was arrested in Cremenaga—province of Varese, Italy—by the SS. Sixteen months later, after the war had ended, he returned home. Through a sparse, minimal style—yet strikingly effective and penetrating—the harrowing story of two young newlyweds and an entire pre-Alpine community is brought to the stage. A story the author inherited from family memories, a handful of letters, firsthand testimony from those who were there, and long, passionate research. A vivid narrative in which glances, gestures, and restrained words speak louder than those that are spoken.
