Sintesi di storia della letteratura latina
by Benedetti, Lisa
This practical volume, with the purpose of combining completeness and simplicity, is aimed at students who need a support tool for the preparation of university exams, included in the study plan of degrees, which involve the study of Latin literature; it may also be useful for revision in view of ministerial, qualifying or teaching competitions for classes A-11 and A-13. Synthesis of the history of Latin literature organizes the contents into seven sections, corresponding to seven significant historical periods: the age of origins (from the birth of Latin literature until the mid-3rd century BC), the republican age of the conquests in the Mediterranean (III-II century BC), the age of the late Republic, dominated by the figure of Caesar (78-44 BC), the age of Augustus (43 BC-14 AD), and the imperial age, divided into three phases (from the Julio-Claudian age to the 5th century). Each section opens with nods to the historical-political and cultural context and continues with the discussion of the characterizing authors (whose life, works, themes and style are presented in summary). The text is completed by a Bibliography and reference Sitography with additional content.
