Tutti i particolari in cronaca

by Manzini Antonio
Tutti i particolari in cronaca

Antonio Manzini, creator of the memorable Police Deputy Commissioner Schiavone, joins the Giallo Mondadori catalog with a ast-paced and surprising story that questions the balance between law and justice, and what we would be willing to do to heal our wounds. “Manzini is one of the few writers who can take the measure of life as it is, at ground zero.” – Antonio D’OrricoA run at dawn, then breakfast at the café, followed by nine hours of work at the court archives, a dinner filled with silence, and lights out at ten. Carlo Cappai is the embodiment of meticulousness, of solitude. Of ordinariness. Nobody suspects that, for him, that labyrinth of boxes, files, and folders is far from dead. On the contrary: those binders speak to him, sometimes shouting their unheeded truths, their pleas for justice. Those are the cases in which the court had failed, absolving the culprits “for not having committed the crime” – but it was actually due to the usual, vile, power hustles. Cappai would simply bring Justice where the Law was unable to reach. In reality, he has been waiting for forty years to punish a crime that had marked him for life. Walter Andretti is a journalist who fell out of the sports section (which he thoroughly enjoyed) and into the crime pages (where he feels extremely ill at ease). When his boss assigns him the coverage of two recent murders, Andretti reluctantly begins his investigation. After some initial blunders and missteps, he starts to feel that there is something weird behind those deaths. A connection. Maybe they were committed by the same hand..
