Uscio paese degli orologi. Storia, artigianato, luoghi, itinerari e cucina
by Vinelli, LuigiThanks to the master watchmakers Bisso (1758) and Terrile (1824) Uscio begins to be known throughout Liguria and beyond only: the tower clocks with the white dials, the numbers Romans who mark community life and work of the fields, they announce the joys and mourning, they warn of danger and call to parties. This ancient and noble tradition makes Uscio, the town of watches, a nickname which it still boasts today thanks to the company “Roberto Trebino – exporter all over the world (also of bronze bells) and supplier to the Vatican – e at the Tower Clock Museum of the same name. The Itineraries are developed in a context of re-evaluation and rediscovery of the ancient roads that connected the town of Exit to the slate quarries and neighboring towns. Finally it should be remembered that the legendary pedestrian route known as la “Via del Sale”, 80 km from Varzi to Portofino, to be covered in four stages, provides for the third stage a overnight stay in Uscio.
