Oltre la porta. Come un infortunio sul lavoro mi ha cambiato l’esistenza

by Colangeli, Riccardo
Oltre la porta. Come un infortunio sul lavoro mi ha cambiato l’esistenza

In October 2001, during a home visit, psychiatrist Riccardo Colangeli was attacked on the doorstep by a patient in crisis. The tip of a kitchen spit darted like lightning through the crack in the door and struck him deeply in the head, causing severe brain damage. In that instant, his life was shattered. He survived the accident, but suffered long-term effects that impaired his mobility, along with temporary neurological issues that limited his memory and cognitive abilities. It was only thanks to his positive disposition and extraordinary relationship with his family that the doctor was able to overcome the tragedy of his acquired disability, the ordeal of rehabilitation, and the bumpy path toward a new normal. This is a true story, in which pain, suffering, and frustration intertwine with fortitude, care for others, a spirit of service, and a love for life. A personal experience that speaks to us of human richness and the desire for redemption, while also shedding light on unresolved social issues and burning, current topics.
