Un laboratorio per la lingua del diritto. L’istituto di italiano giuridico dell’università di Berna
The Institute of Legal Italian at the University of Bern is the first university centre dedicated to promoting, developing and studying the Italian legal language in Switzerland. In addition to the Charter of Intent, this volume brings together the academic and teaching activities of the new university centre during its first year of operation. On the one hand, it publishes contributions arising from initiatives organised on linguistic issues relating to the creation, communication and interpretation of law, including with regard to Italian as the lingua franca for those studying Roman law in Europe and around the world today. On the other hand, it reports on the Institute’s commitment to reintroducing legal courses in Italian at the University of Bern – the traditional centre for the study of law in those cantons that do not have a Faculty of Law – as well as the outcomes of a discussion with students on the training of legal professionals in a country whose history and identity are rooted in multilingualism.
