Ad Haiti sognavo la neve
by Viano, Richardson, Corallo, Alessandro, Demarchi, Alessandro
November 2025. In the first photograph featured in the book, Rici is three years old and gazes directly and resolutely at the photographer’s lens: he is at the crèche in Port-au-Prince, Haiti, the orphanage where dedication and love save the youngest children from poverty and hunger. February 2022. In the final photograph, Rici is at the Winter Olympics in Beijing. He is twenty years old, has finished 34th in the slalom, and has lost none of that same determined look. This book recounts the two decades that lie between the two photographs: his adoption by an Italian couple, his first encounter with snow, and the rediscovery of a deep connection with his country of origin are the milestones in a story in which love has reshaped the course of a destiny that seemed predetermined. A journey of personal and sporting growth in which Rici has embraced courage and sacrifice with the unshakeable conviction that even the most unexpected dream can come true. ‘What Richardson already represents for his country today goes beyond sport. Carrying the Haitian flag on the international ski slopes sends a powerful message. It is an act of courage, hope and pride – for him, for Haitian children, and for all those struggling against poverty, hunger and natural disasters.’ From the foreword by Paolo De Chiesa, champion of the ‘Valanga azzurra’
