Altro l’anima cerca
by Ferri, Sandro
Spanning three generations, a man journeys through dreams and memory to uncover his father’s past — and to understand what freedom means for himself and his daughter in a world still struggling to define it.
A businessman, once a rebellious youth, follows his father in his dreams. He had disappeared in mysterious circumstances many years earlier – the man closes his eyes and finds him in his past, leading a brigade of anarchists and communists to liberate a piece of Romagna from the Nazis. But what the son truly wants to know is why did he disappear the way he did. The son, now a father himself, will then speak with his daughter about her own struggles, as she takes on the burden—and the thrill—of a bold enterprise, because for her, freedom and responsibility must go hand in hand.
Three main characters: Rigo, a towering figure among anarchist partisans and poker tables; Eva, his granddaughter, a young woman who has inherited her grandfather’s charisma and uses it in the world of international publishing; and Sandro, a kind of “go-between” connecting reality and dream, generations and eras, driven by a singular obsession: what does it mean to be free?
