Brutale

by Falzone, Salvatore
Brutale

Paolo is a young man from Vigevano with a seemingly quiet life: he works as a pizza chef’s assistant and lives in a former garage converted into a two-room flat with his girlfriend Martina. One Friday evening at the bar, over a drink, his friend Gianluca confides that a boy from his village has become rich thanks to videos with other men uploaded to OnlyFans. Paolo, intrigued by the prospect of earning extra money, decides to sign up for the app and, with his face covered by a balaclava, shoots a hardcore video with another boy, showing a violent and dominant side of himself. The video is also seen by Giulio, a freelance graphic designer who lives in a beautiful flat bought by his parents and is engaged to Fabio, a kind and decent man whom he repeatedly cheats on with other people he meets through apps, men to whom he wants to be submissive. The scene filmed by Paolo, which Giulio watches with a desperate hunger, reopens a wound in the lives of the two young men. The two are not strangers: they attended the same high school and one morning, in the school bathrooms, something unspeakable happened between them, which they are now forced to come to terms with. Meanwhile, in Paolo’s secret online life, a rich and powerful man insinuates himself, willing to do anything to satisfy his most extreme desires.
