Don Peppino Diana. Un prete affamato di vita
by Tanzarella SergioDon Peppino Diana was just a young priest, hungry for life. He neither sought death nor desired martyrdom.Don Peppino was not a functionary of the sacred, an aseptic distributor of sacraments and certificates, a bureaucrat of religion, an indifferent celebrant of murdered deaths. He did not accept tolerating the abuses, intimidations, and fear that the Camorra imposed on Casal di Principe and beyond. By proclaiming the Gospel in a land of murders and violence, as a priest, he could never preach resignation. In a reality where the Camorra demanded to co-manage the sacred and even finance it, to govern and control needs and rights, Don Peppino simply offered the priestly testimony that there could be no agreement between those who killed and claimed to be the masters of the world and a Christian, especially a priest.
