Competere o sparire

Competere o sparire
Compete Or Disappear
In a world fragmented by technological delays and growing geopolitical turbulence, Europe stands at an unavoidable crossroads: compete or disappear. Mario Draghi, a key protagonist in the greatest European challenges of recent decades, delivers a lucid analysis and an urgent appeal. This book is a manifesto to awaken European pride and defend freedom.
The old world order has shattered. On the economic front, Europe is lagging behind in technological challenges and must reckon with the aggressiveness of the two true superpowers: the United States and China. On the political front, the peace of which the European Union was the primary guarantor no longer exists, shattered by fierce wars with no end in sight.
Paradoxically, “the forces that are testing Europe today are achieving something that decades of peace and prosperity failed to do: they are driving Europeans to recognize what they have in common and what they are willing to build together”.
In this scenario, Mario Draghi—who in 2012, as president of the ECB, saved the euro during the sovereign debt crisis and in 2021 became Italy’s PM in the midst of the pandemic—was called upon to draft a report on European competitiveness that outlines the guidelines for the revival of the Union.
This book is the most lucid analysis of the new, turbulent world we live in, and an appeal to defend, in the name of the values upon which Europe is founded, our very freedom.
