Rosella the cat in the repulsive house
From the winner of the 2025 Ragazze e Ragazzi Strega Prize and the 2024 Andersen Prize, a poetic and irreverent narrative in the vein of Roald Dahl.
In the heart of Vallegaudia stands the Repulsive House, home of the Gondris, a family of wealthy and cruel slobs. Within those moldy walls also lives little Rosella, a tender and kind orphaned niece who desperately wants to go to school and make friends, but is forced to work for her terrible aunt and uncle as a “mouse-catching cat” and endure her cousins’ bullying. In desperation, she entrusts a message for help to a little mouse, who delivers it to two children in the village, Lina and Nico. From that moment, a funny, bizarre, and brilliant mission to free Rosella the Cat begins.
A story with a classic, irreverent flavour; with brilliant and rebellious children as protagonists, combined with imaginative and deep writing
