Gobetti e Matteotti tra sintonie e premonizione
A cento anni dalla morte, la reazione di Gobetti all’assassinio di Matteotti concorre a dare spessore al giovane intellettuale torinese, oltre che a sottolineare alcuni tratti della dimensione umana e politica del leader socialista.
Gobetti coglieva in Matteotti le ragioni e la natura del suo intransigente antifascismo. Ne sottolineava la serietà, lo scrupolo documentale, la disinteressata difesa degli ultimi. Al tempo stesso definiva una linea che da Salvemini conduceva verso Matteotti, quindi verso Amendola e che avrebbe coinvolto lui stesso. Si trattava di una linea di dignità e di forza morale che spostava lo scontro dal terreno della forza verso quello dei valori, che contrapponeva a una dittatura costruita su stati d’animo e contingenze una disinteressata ed eroica coerenza, nel quadro di un cammino di civiltà.
L’assassinio di Matteotti fu vissuto da Gobetti con la premonizione di ciò che gli avrebbe potuto riservare il futuro e fu la spinta che lo orientò a rafforzare la sua idea che “vivere e parlare” fossero un dovere, “finché riusciremo”.

A hundred years after his death, Gobetti’s reaction to Matteotti’s assassination helps to give depth to the young Turin intellectual, as well as highlighting some of the socialist leader’s human and political dimensions.
Gobetti understood in Matteotti the reasons and nature of his uncompromising anti-fascism. He emphasized his seriousness, his scrupulous attention to documentation, and his selfless defense of the poor. At the same time, he defined a line that led from Salvemini to Matteotti, then to Amendola, and which would ultimately involve himself. It was a line of dignity and moral strength that shifted the conflict from the terrain of force to that of values, which countered a dictatorship built on moods and contingencies with a selfless and heroic coherence, within the framework of a path of civilization.
Gobetti experienced Matteotti’s assassination with a premonition of what the future might hold for him, and it was the impetus that guided him to strengthen his belief that « living and speaking » were a duty, « as long as we can. »

Infinito edizioni was founded to bring to readers’ attention topics often briefly covered in the press, yet which are of real interest. Human rights are at the heart of the themes addressed in our books, with a focus on women, minors, and migrants, among others. We care deeply about contemporary history, particularly in countries close to Italy, such as the former Yugoslavia, but we also address other countries, striving to bring to light original aspects in each book. In 2021, we acquired the Edizioni Estemporanee brand and expanded our production to include academic essays, quality food and wine, and TV series.
We publish approximately 35-40 titles a year, exchanging rights with colleagues in various European countries. We are distributed by Messaggerie Libri and are promoted in bookstores by Emme Promozione.

Los derechos humanos son el eje central de los temas que abordamos en nuestros libros, con especial atención a las mujeres, los menores y los migrantes, entre otros. Nos interesa la historia contemporánea, especialmente la de países cercanos a Italia, como la antigua Yugoslavia, pero también hemos abordado otros países, tratando de sacar a la luz aspectos originales en cada libro.
