Tangerinn
par Anechoum, Emanuela
A novel for those who turn travelling into a badge of honor, for those who would never have left, and for those who find in staying a different kind of journey. From the profound beauty
and brutality of Southern Italy, to the frenzy of London and its loneliness and a Morocco that might be just a dream – in search of an answer to one single question: is leaving ever a choice?Mina left her hometown in southern Italy to save herself from becoming someone she would hate. Her life in London was built with great attention to detail, in an attempt to finally feel ‘right’ – she never felt like that at home, where her mixed family just refused to blend in.
When her father dies, Mina is forced to come back home and help with the family business, a café on the shore called Tangerinn: a crossroad of stories, cultures, grief and discoveries, a beloved spot for those who miss their own home.
Surrounded by the memories of her father, Omar, she seeks answers where there will be none: did she know who he really was? She recalls stories of Omar’s childhood in a poor neighbourhood in Casablanca, stories of his family, his ambitions as a teenager, his adventurous journey to Europe. But something seems missing—the painful suspicion that she might not know the entire truth about her father…
