Fumettibrutti at the Stockholms Internationella Seriefestival

Saturday 16 May at 3.15 pm, the comic artist Fumettibrutti will be taking part in the Stockholm International Comics Festival, in conversation with Olivia Skoglund. The two comic artists will discuss their work, which portrays their generation through humour, irony and autobiographical perspectives. The conversation will be held in English and Italian with consecutive interpretation.

Josephine Yole Signorelli, known by her pen name Fumettibrutti, was born in Catania in 1991 and is one of the leading figures on the Italian comics scene. With texts and drawings that recount her personal stories and those of her generation in an original and unsettling way, she has garnered public admiration and critical acclaim, not only within the comics world. For Feltrinelli Comics, she has published the trilogy Romanzo esplicito (2018), P. La mia adolescenza trans (2019) and Anestesia (2020), the collection Ogni giovedì una striscia (2022), the graphic novel adapted from Francesco Piccolo’s novel, La separazione del maschio (2023) and Agendabrutta (2025). She wrote the script for CenerentolA (art by Joe1) and edited the anthology Sporchi e subito. Her short stories are included in various anthologies. Her works have won several awards, including the Micheluzzi Prize for Best Debut at Napoli Comicon and the Gran Guinigi for Best Newcomer at Lucca Comics & Games. She contributes to various publications and cultural supplements.

Olivia Skoglund (born in 1994) is a Swedish cartoonist, comedian and educator. She has created comics for magazines such as Bang and Dagens ETC, and contributes regularly to Ottar and Galago. With dark humour and wit, she challenges and questions normative society in her comics. She made her debut in 2020 with Nästan i mål!. In autumn 2025, she published Uppdrag underliv. Olivia Skoglund began her career drawing manga but grew tired of it and almost stopped drawing altogether. When she discovered alternative series that portray real people through honest and humorous stories, a whole new world opened up to her. Since then, she has drawn, inspired by, among others, autobiographical pioneers such as Harvey Pekar and Marjane Satrapi.
