Why do so many Christians love to venerate and depict Christ as a child? This is an exploration into the history of the cult of the Child Jesus and its iconography. How did it originate and how did it develop inthe Church? Which saints practised it, advised it, spread it? Which are the most famous and venerated images? But also: what theological reasons support this devotion? The first version of this book was published by Mondadori in 2001 and was a publishing success. It was later translated into Spanish by Almuzara with some additions and was widely distributed in Spainand Latin America. That said, research in recent years has not stopped, especially in the field of the iconography of the Child Jesus. Here is this new draft in which the author has integrated both the texts and theextensive photographic material in the light of the most recent studies.
