Paris, 21st of August 1911. A thief enters the Louvre  keeping a low profile. With a quick movement, removes the painting from the wall leaving a ring of dust around it. It must be fast. The lady in the portrait gives him an imperceptible smile as she is wrapped in his coat. A few minutes later the thief is out, walks away with a sweaty shirt and a triumphant expression: he stole La Gioconda! The police interrogate the employees, workers and custodians of the museum, think of a maniac, a crazy collector or a simple joke; then he arrests the poet Apollinaire for a few days and even suspects his friend Picasso. All wasted time! Only a young Italian immigrant named Alfio and the daughter of the director of the Louvre, Amélie, by joining forces, will be able to flush out the elusive thief.

 

A thief enters the Louvre museum  and steals La Gioconda.  The police officers interrogates everybody: the employees, the workers, the museum keepers, they assume it was a maniac, a crazy art collector  or a prank. They arrested for few days the poet Apollinaire and they even suspect of his friend Picasso.  Only a Young Italian immigrant named Alfio and the daughter of the museum director will manage to solve the mystery and catch the thief! An incredible adventure based on true events: the most famous art theft of the history!


Daniele Nicastro was born in Carmagnola in 1978 and currently lives in a small town in the province of Cuneo, where he writes full-time books for children. He started in 2011 with a fantasy novel. Since then he has ventured into the most diverse genres, from adventure novel to comic story, but always with particular attention to the themes of growth that most interest children. He has been collaborating for years as a ghost writer with the major Italian publishing houses.
