Il Pesce del Tempo

by Artom, Yael
Il Pesce del Tempo

What was supposed to be a simple bookkeeper’s job in a contemporary art gallery turns first into a series of improbable annoying tasks – cataloguing nails, teeth and hair – for a very rude artist, and then into an unexpected obsession with a work that the protagonist believes he is the only one to understand: a hanging fish made, precisely, of the nails he has catalogued.
Between disgust and fascination, the clerk fights a strenuous inner battle, undecided whether to let himself be seduced by the strange affection he feels for his employer and gallery director or to finally seek a simple job of pure aseptic accounting. Circumstances will decide for him…
