What was supposed to be a simple bookkeeper’s job in a contemporary art gallery turns first into a series of improbable annoying tasks – cataloguing nails, teeth and hair – for a very rude artist, and then into an unexpected obsession with a work that the protagonist believes he is the only one to understand: a hanging fish made, precisely, of the nails he has catalogued.
Between disgust and fascination, the clerk fights a strenuous inner battle, undecided whether to let himself be seduced by the strange affection he feels for his employer and gallery director or to finally seek a simple job of pure aseptic accounting. Circumstances will decide for him…

Artom, Yael
Yael Artom has lived between Italy and Israel for several years. She studied English Literature at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem obtaining a Master’s degree, taught academic writing, worked at an NGO, and was a reader for Keter Books, one of the leading publishing houses in Israel. She currently teaches English Literature at an international school in Genoa.
