La cacciatrice di fossili: Mary Anning si racconta

In England in 1812, a thirteen-year-old girl finds the fossil of a strange sea monster, known today as Ichthyosaurus. So begins her career as a fossil hunter, which in time would lead her to discover the first Plesiosaurus and one of the first Pterodactyls. Her skill – is rebuilding the skeleton of creatures that no one has ever seen before. Despite lacking formal schooling, she reads and critiques scientific papers and debates as an equal with the most important scientists and scholars of the day; her only problem is that she’s a woman and, what’s more, of humble origins…

Annalisa Strada worked in publishing for years, before dedicating herself to children’s novels and teaching literature. She has published more than thirty titles, including Una sottile linea rosa, which won the Andersen Prize in 2014.
