La seconda vita

Vasco, a young partisan in 1944, faces his fate with the recklessness of someone who loves his homeland fiercely. In the hills of Reggio Emilia, his path seems set, until a mysterious encounter offers him a second chance.
In the 1980s, his grandson Andrea spends carefree summers in those same places, surrounded by the love of his grandparents, who help him find peace again. Those summers with his spirited cousin Sofia become an unforgettable refuge, giving rise to a fledgling love that neither will ever forget.
Thirty years later, Andrea and Sofia meet again by chance in San Francisco, amid the vibrant nightlife of the city and its waterfront. Their passion, never truly extinguished, draws them into a secret affair and a dizzying happiness. But when he returns home, Andrea must confront his marriage to Giulia and his responsibilities towards his family. Yet fate still awaits him in those hills: Vasco has one final request—to find the child who saved his life all those years ago.
On this journey between past and present, Andrea must discover what truly matters, let go of what holds him back, and find the courage to begin again—and finally embrace his second life.
La seconda vita is a story of courage, family bonds, friendships and loves that span time and generations, in a search for meaning that may lie in the enduring strength of our roots.
