The great Leonardo, who died in Amboise on 2 May 1519, was certainly a psychotic. He had severe traumas in his youth. His existence was a constant struggle to transcend his past, in which his mysterious mother appears. He was a narcissist with a split personality, who set himself unattainable goals that fuelled his dissatisfaction.
