Little girl
by Keller, AliceThe narrator of this novel is engaged in self-discovery at that moment of transition between the fluidity of childhood and the coarseness of growing up. Summer at a campground in the middle of a pine forest; evenings around the campfire and swimming in the pool; Maddalena, her lifelong friend, and her warm gossip; the older, almost mythical animators – like Anna, who sees and understands more than she lets on; some foreign, mysterious and intriguing boys. A crowd of sensations and surprises; prodigious moments and bitter ones; and the gift of a discovery: what a precious gift it is to find someone who sees you for what you are better than you can see yourself.
