Marguerite mon amour

by Lauto Federica
Marguerite mon amour

Erica is thirty years old, drops out of university and works in a supermarket while dreaming of being a writer. One day someone offers her the opportunity of a lifetime: three months to write a book about her favorite, Marguerite Duras. With the help of the ghost of Duras herself, in search of a lost notebook, Erica begins a journey from Vietnam to Paris, touching the places that made the writer’s life and will make hers too. In Marguerite mon amour, Erica’s life and that of Duras are intertwined, dense and dazzling. With dedication and for the 110 years since her birth, Federica Lauto retraces the lights and shadows of the author of the scandalous book The Lover, from the years of militancy in the Resistance to success, from the difficult relationship with her mother to domestic violence, from alcoholism until her death in Paris in 1996.
