Noi ci ricorderemo. Vent’anni di amicizia con Leonardo Sciascia
by De Vita, Nino
Nino De Vita, poet, writer, and member of the Leonardo Sciascia Foundation, met Sciascia at Enzo Sellerio’s home in Palermo in 1969. From that encounter, over the next twenty years, an intense bond developed that lasted until Sciascia’s death in November 1989. Noi ci ricorderemo is a book written in honor of Leonardo Sciascia’s memory, a collection of previously unpublished anecdotes that unfold through a friendship, a close bond of intimacy in which a portrait emerges—not of the writer, but above all of the man with his silences, his tenderness, and his fears, even the torment he experienced in the final months before his death. Intertwined with these memories emerges a portrait of Sicily and Palermo, brought to life by the great writers and intellectuals—friends of Sciascia—such as Gesualdo Bufalino, Vincenzo Consolo, and Enzo Sellerio, and at the same time forever marked by the mafia crimes of that era, so distant yet so close.
