IADC is a revolutionary form of psychotherapy that is effective in grieving. This new technique of clinical psychology was discovered and improved by the American psychologist Allan Botkin to heal the deep pain caused by the trauma of the loss of a loved one. IADC is the acronym of Induced After Death Communication therapy – and it is communication with a loved one after his death thanks to an induced state of receptivity: the psychotherapist accompanies the patient in a state of mental receptivity that allows the experience of contact and communication with your deceased loved one. In just two sessions, the new therapeutic modality aims to be a valuable resource for treating patients in serious and complicated bereavement, as clinicians commonly define the mourning picture with processing block. Through the experience of momentary contact and communication with your loved one, it is possible to know that the loved one still exists and is close to us, ask them questions about their status, draw on their suggestions and assessments, resolve outstanding issues. The Author, medical psychologist and psychotherapist, exposes the state of the art on the researches of scientific rigor that have involved doctors and psychologists in the innovative therapy. Crossing a plurality of fields and disciplines, the Author combines empirical data and theoretical reflections on the possibility of life after death, with clinical proposals aimed at treating the pain of loss also and above all through the evocation of a personal experience of reunion with those we love. Through IADC therapy the pain of death remains but the way in which the loss is experienced changes. This therapeutic experience can promote a process of personal growth in the patient.
