Qualcosa sui Lehman

by Massini Stefano
Qualcosa sui Lehman

On a cold September morning in 1844 a young man from Bavaria stands on a New York dockside, dreaming a new life in the new world. Sensing opportunity in the Deep South, he opens a textile shop in Alabama, and then he and his two brothers begin investing in anything and everything: coffee, sugar, coal and railroad. 163 years later, the Lehman Brothers firm spectacularly collapses into bankruptcy and triggered the longest financial crisis in history. Stefano Massini has taken the Lehman Brothers story and turned it into a moving epic portraying 150 years of history of capitalism, intertwining the rise and fall of the big Lehman family  with the rise and fall of the capitalism in a visionary and powerful book that goes beyond any literary genre.
