Tutti a casa. Storie e memorie di Internati Militari Italiani di Lucca e provincia. 8 settembre 1943
by Giannasi, Andrea, Simonetti, SimonettaFrom the Stalags on the Rhine in Germany to the terrible concentration camp of Bor in Serbia, from the infamous Biala-Podlaska to the galaxy of Auschwitz camps, this book depicts the daily life of men defined as “stock” (pieces) destined for labor, consumption, and death. For decades, Italian soldiers who fell into German hands after September 8, 1943, lived in a sort of limbo. Being defined as Italian Military Internees made them invisible, quickly forgetting the sufferings, tortures, and deprivations experienced in German prison camps. This book collects the stories of Paolo Zumbo, Corinno Magistrelli, Lido Simonetti, Renzo Pellegrini, Francesco Simonetti, Aldo Luciani, Remo Luccarini, and Sestilio Lunardi, internees from Lucca who, once they returned home, did not forget what they had experienced.
