The story of Pinocchio is also the story of an unquenchable hunger, of meals pursued and dishes wished for; yet, in the adventures of the most famous puppet in the world, food is not missing: there are the sumptuous meals of the Cat and the Fox at the Osteria del Gambero Rosso, the gargantuan meals of the Green Fisherman and Mangiafoco, and above all Pinocchio’s gastronomic dreams, unrealized but always grandiose. Anna Vivarelli embarks on a journey in search of the flavors of Collodi’s masterpiece using the company of the great book by Pellegrino Artusi, Science in the Kitchen and the Art of Eating Well, which transforms the dishes of the children’s novel into rigorous and perfect recipes. All’osteria con Pinocchio thus becomes, little by little, a historical and gluttonous itinerary through the culinary traditions of post-unification Italy: a newly born nation that still does not possess a single language nor a single history, but that reveals itself to be incredibly rich in gastronomic culture.

Anna Vivarelli lives and works in Turin. Graduated in Philosophy and very young playwright, for over fifteen years she worked as a copywriter for several advertising agencies.
