Early 1990s, a small town in Monferrato. In front of an empty tomb, a man recites a verse from the prophet Jeremiah as a prayer. From that precise moment on, the life of the prophet and the dramatic story of the child-God who no longer wants to live become linked. Patrick the child, with the sorrowful and insane figures of his parents, Jeremiah the prophet and his words full of anger and tenderness, a narrator self always poised between the attempt to tell and the nonsense of the world, and God, who lives and dies, who hates and wants to redeem, are the voices that intertwine in this hybrid and complex novel that tells the simplest and oldest of stories – a story of love and death.
