Hamburg, 1985. Rudolf Wollmer is a trade unionist, he has a wife, a teenage son and the nightmare of an inconvenient father, a former SS who died and bequeathed him the family home. Determined to get rid of it immediately, among the old man’s belongings he discovers a painting entitled Glory. The image is ominous but hides an even more terrifying secret.
Over time, the story of Rudolf and the painting intertwines with that of Enea Fergnani – a former prisoner in Mauthausen who escaped extermination in the lager thanks to his artistic ability and owner of a tattoo shop in Turin – and the young model Ana…A surprising novel, with an intense and clear style, which is also a reflection on the relationship between victim and executioner, on what is the border between human and inhuman.

Paolin, Demetrio
Demetrio Paolin lives in Turin. He has published the novel Il mio nome è Legione (Transeuropa, 2009), the essays Una tragedia negata. Il racconto degli anni di piombo nella narrativa italiana (Il Maestrale, 2008) and Non fate troppi pettegolezzi (LiberAria, 2014), and several critical studies on Primo Levi. He has collaborated with Corriere della Sera and il manifesto. Conforme alla gloria, his second novel, was among the twelve finalists for the Strega Prize 2016.
