Una tempesta di inimmaginabile violenza si abbatte sulla foresta, sradicando i tronchi degli alberi più robusti. Solo Sghembo, il larice più piccolo e debole della foresta, è riuscito a sopravvivere: come gli aveva sempre detto il Re della Foresta, l’albero più vecchio e saggio, la sua debolezza è stata la sua forza. Ora Sghembo è il nuovo re della foresta. E spetta a lui, piccolo, gracile e fragile, parlare agli esseri umani e avvertirli: se non faranno qualcosa adesso, arriveranno altre tempeste, anche peggiori. C’è solo un piccolo umano che può capirlo: il “suo” umano con la coda, la volpe-bambina dagli occhi di muschio…
Isabella Salmoirago ha lavorato in ambito pubblicitario per più di trent’anni come illustratrice. Editrice, ghostwriter e autrice di libri per bambini e ragazzi, insieme a Marco Rosso, ha vinto il premio Andersen Baia delle Favole nel 1993 con la storia Re Puzzone. Ha lavorato in Piemme come senior editor e in International Characters come Responsabile dei servizi editoriali.
The King of the Forest
A storm of unimaginable violence struck the forest, uprooting the trunks of the strongest trees. Only Sghembo, the smallest and weakest larch in the forest, managed to survive: as the King of the Forest, the oldest and wisest tree, had always told him, his weakness was his strength. Now He is the new king of the forest. And it is up to him, small, frail and wispy, to speak to the humans and warn them: if they do not do something now, more storms will come, even worse ones. There is only one little human who can understand him: ‘his’ tailed human, the mossy-eyed fox-child…
Isabella Salmoirago has worked in the publishing world for over 30 years as an illustrator, editor, ghostwriter and author of children’s and young people’s novels. Together with Marco Rosso, she won the Andersen Baia delle Favole prize in 1993 for the story Re Puzzone, among other prestigious awards. She has worked at Mondadori (Piemme) as a senior editor and at International Characters as head of editorial services.
