Il vecchio tagliabambù si avvicinò e vide che all’interno del bambù luminoso vi era un piccolo essere umano alto meno di tre pollici. Sanuki si convinse che quell’esserino stava aspettando di essere trovato proprio da lui, così lo prese tra le mani e lo portò con sé. Si trattava di una bambina, e decise di chiamarla Kaguyahime, che significava “la principessa splendente del flessibile bambù”.

Nata nel 1980, Silvia Dotti entra subito in contatto con il mondo dell’arte. I suoi genitori lavorano presso un’importante fabbrica produttrice di colori per belle arti e, fin da piccola, Silvia manifesta uno spiccato interesse per il disegno. Diplomata presso l’Istituto Superiore per Interpreti e Traduttori di Milano, Silvia non abbandona il suo sogno e frequenta corsi d’arte, specializzandosi nella tecnica dell’acquerello. Dal 2019 collabora stabilmente con la casa editrice Tomolo-EdiGio’ Edizioni, in qualità di autrice, illustratrice e responsabile della collana Le Tomoleggende, e dal 2021, per la casa editrice Herzverlag, realizza le copertine della collana dedicata alle fiabe. Sempre nel 2019 apre uno studio di pittura a Paullo, in provincia di Milano, dove tuttora lavora in qualità di illustratrice, offrendo corsi di arte per adulti e bambini.
The Moon Princess - 月の王女
The Moon Princess is a famous Japanese fairytale, which details the life of Kaguya-hime, a princess from the Moon who is discovered as a baby inside the stalk of a glowing bamboo plant. After she grows, her beauty attracts several suitors seeking her hand in marriage, whom she turns away by challenging them each with an impossible task; she later attracts the affection of the Emperor of Japan. At the tale’s end, Kaguya-hime reveals her celestial origins and returns to the Moon.

Born in 1980, Silvia Dotti had the chance to discover art very early. Her mother and her father work for an important Italian company producing fine art materials and since she was a child Silvia has loved drawing. After the Scuola Media, Silvia decided to attend a school spacializing in foreign languages where she learns English, French and German. After that she attended a High School for interpreters and translators, where she also learned Dutch. Nonetheless, she has never given up her dream and attended painting courses where she explored various techniques such as painting on ceramic, glass and clothes, acrylic, oil and watercolors. Since 2019 she has been collaborating as writer and illustrator with Tomolo Edigio Edizioni, who have published most of her works for children and adults.
