Francesco d’Assisi. Un uomo libero
by Mazzolari, Primo
Francis accompanied Mazzolari throughout his life and, like a lover from afar, Don Primo wove a dialogue with the writings and witness of the Saint of Assisi, comprising sermons, meditations and articles. At the heart of every text lies the Gospel, the revolutionary power of the Word that always places poverty at the centre, the only path to true freedom. Eight hundred years after Francis’s death, this collection of ten writings—among the many Mazzolari dedicated to him—reminds us how, for both men, the power of the Word is never entrusted solely to preaching but must always be borne witness to through the choices, sometimes uncomfortable, of those who lived the Christian experience as an ‘obedient rebel’.
