L’imprevedibilità del bene

A thriller that hits like a punch to the gut, and reminds us how evil is always indissolubly linked to good. The life of Franco Rocchi, who became a screen star after his success in the role of Commissioner Cardone, is undergoing a setback. His marriage is at an end and so is his career: the series will not have a sequel. The same is true for Daniele Lucci, the director and Franco’s good friend. He can only console himself for having escaped yet another appointment with death: the CT scan that cyclically decrees the absence or return of cancer. Neither, however, suspects that their existence is about to change unexpectedly: when Franco’s father is hit by a car the trivial attempt to reconstruct the dynamics of the accident leads both to the center of a network of shady, indeed unmentionable, human traffickers. What is a man willing to do to defend his family? And in life’s ruthless struggle between good and evil who can still claim to be innocent?Against the backdrop of a dark and timeless Rome, Longoni brings us a novel that denounces the most unforgivable of evils, that against children.
