Born in New York, she grew up in the province of Avellino, where she lives and teaches. She received her degree and PhD at the University of Salerno. She attended seminars in Italy and in the United States, doing research in Boston, New York, Connecticut. Her current research interests focus on the memoirs written by Italians who migrated abroad or by their descendants. Her essays and reviews have appeared on Italian and international literary journals.
