Saggio sull’armonia. Tra musica, letteratura e formazione umana

Does the human being perceive the feeling of his own inner harmony? And what does the latter consist of? Of an interdisciplinary nature, the volume by Francesca Marcone, Essay on harmony, undertakes to answer these questions by investigating the concept of harmony, as it emerges from Western thought, through three areas of research: musicological, literary and pedagogical. In Part One, the study exposes the pre-eminent themes from which it starts: the philosophical-musical one connected with the harmony of the spheres and the one relating to the history of the concept of musical harmony. With Part Two, these are developed through the reflection of some of the most representative authors of European literature. The Third Part takes them from the unitary perspective of Pedagogy, considering them in relation to the training, education and culture of Western man.

Francesca Marcone is professor of ‘General Pedagogy’ at the University of Genoa and a member of the Directorate of the ‘Don Lorenzo Milani Pedagogical Studies Center’ in Genoa.
