Gli asini for newitalianbooks
Politically and socially engaged nonfiction
Gli asini is a magazine on culture, politics, education and society founded on the initiative of its director, Goffredo Fofi. The editors are involved in different areas of education, training and social intervention: in and out of school, with foreigners, adults, girls and boys. Although they come from different geographical, political and religious backgrounds, what they have in common is a ‘strong’ idea of education as a dimension linking culture and morality, individual and community. Between 2011 and 2022 the magazine was published by Edizioni dell’Asino. Since January 2023 Gli asini has been published by Centro di Documentazione di Pistoia (Pistoia Documentation Centre), which in 1969 started collecting, archiving and analysing books, magazines, posters, flyers, monographs and fanzines concerning movements, countercultures, workers‘ and students’ protests, feminism, environmentalism, pacifism, the rights of minorities and fragile subjects, and community work.
This month, Gli asini offers newitalianbooks readers a focus on some non-fiction titles (human and social sciences, ecology, biology, etc.) that have appeared in Italy recent years.
