There is a grandfather lying on a bed and all his relatives are watching around him. Everyone except Mattia, the youngest grandson, just seven years old, looking at a fly on the ceiling. Then the grandfather gets up and invites Mattia to take one of those walks that they like so much. The other people present do not notice anything and, in silence, Mattia and his grandfather leave the house. As soon as they come out, they are faced with a different landscape instead of the streets of the village: a large green and yellow countryside, crossed by a river. The two protagonists walk on the left bank of the river and live many adventures: they fish, \’catch\’ a horse, wander the streets of a village, climb the bell tower, hunt for treasure and are captured by pirates. While all this is happening, the grandfather becomes smaller until he becomes invisible.
