Mille per una notte e altri racconti da Lisbona

The 59th Champions League final will be played in Lisbon on 24 May 2014. The two great teams from Madrid, Real and Atlético, face off, and the Portuguese capital is stormed by Spanish tourists. The newspapers headline: “Lisbon capital of crazy prices and talk about fans willing to pay staggering amounts for a bed on this crazy night of football. The Lisbon people, who just a week earlier had come out with broken bones from the three-year austerity program imposed by the Troika, suddenly believe they have discovered a treasure under the tiles of the floor.

This is the starting point of the story that gives the book its title. It is the description of a moment in the recent history of Portugal through the vicissitudes of a group of Lisbon people who are trying, each in their own way, to survive the crisis. It is the original testimony of the beginning of the tourist boom and the real estate bubble in the big Portuguese cities, through a curious plot, made up of research, small tricks and big chases, in a register that often recalls the grotesque and melancholy style of the masters of cinematographic comedy.

Completing the work: The man of her life, Profile photo, Concentration camp, Sex, The fixer.
