Il cinema dei Papi
Making use of mostly unpublished documents from the archives of the Vatican Secretary of State and the Pontifical Gendarmerie, this volume tells of the birth of the Vatican Film Library, whose 8,000 titles make it unique in its genre and the main depository of the memory of moving images of the pontiffs of the 1900\’s. An original viewpoint for understanding the profound transformations which took place in the image of the papacy and the relationship between Catholic Church and cinema.
Dario Edoardo Viganò, vice-chancellor of the Pontifical Academy of Sciences and of the Pontifical Academy of Social Sciences, is ordinary professor of Cinema at the Uninettuno and the LUISS Business School.
